Virgin Atlantic are doing a competition to remake this ad! If your version of the ad gets voted the best you get to fly on a re-creation of the inaugural flight, to go the 25th birthday party in Manhattan and get a night's luxury accomodation.

I'm not young and I think this advert is absolutely terrific. What is wrong in seeing beautiful young women dressed so smartly with beautiful high heels and accompanied by a very handsome pilot. Whoever started these comments about sexism should get a life for goodness sake. This ad hasn't been played for a little while so come on Virgin Atlantic lets see it some more.

Hi all
Just out of interest, the WIMPY logo in the background is from the South African WIMPY http://www.wimpy.co.za so I would assume that as per many other british adds this add is filmed in SA.

I suspect that the agency have gone for a “Life on Mars” / “Ashes to Ashes” style – so it’s not intended to be totally true to life

Only one problem with this addvert and that is, the fact that In June 1984 mobile phones were not invented so the guy in the advert must be from the future.
And if you doubt my claims then i can tell you the first mobile network launched on the 31st December 1984 by vodafone and the first ever consumer call on that network was on the 1st January 1985
Just thought id point out that Virgin obviously didn’t do much research when making this ad.
