Direct download for the iPhone update

If you’re having problems downloading the iPhone update via iTunes (servers seem pretty overwhelmed) then iPhone Atlas has a direct download link.

    I’ve been able to download the iphone 2.0 update via itunes but when I go through to reboot the phone with the new software it gives me an error concerning my network when syncing the phone with itunes. any suggestions?

    Apple’s activation servers – which the new firmware needs to access – are basically snowed under. The company stupidly decided to release the updates for iPhone, iPod Touch and the new iPhone 3G all at the same time.
    The only advice is to keep trying to activate it – click on one of the other tabs in iTunes (say, Music) then back to your iPhone in the device list, and it will try again.
