In comments around the web, several people mentioned that there are applications around like Outsync and FacebookSync, which allow you to get your contact information out of Facebook.
Unfortunately, though, what you can get out without violating the Facebook terms of service is pretty limited. FacebookSync recently had a “request” from Facebook to change the application – as it violated the ToS. Here’s what got taken out:
– Synchronisation of emails
– Synchronisation of AIM address
– Synchronisation of mobile phone number
– Adding records which exist in Facebook, but not in Address Book
In other words, pretty much all the useful information is locked away behind the terms of service. Just about all you can get out is your Facebook photo – which isn’t exactly a big deal.
