EU Copyright Directive makes technology illegal

BBC News: The selling of PlayStation 2 mod chips has been ruled illegal. I’m struggling to find examples of non-destructive technology which has, in the past, been ruled illegal for possession. Anyone got any ideas?

    Police Band Radio Scanners? I’m sure there was a loophole where you could buy them but not use them… or something equally insane.

    Yes – they were legal to sell, legal to buy, but not legal to use. The same went for CB radio equipment before they legalised that. But still, the weren’t banned – it was the act of using them in a particular way that was illegal, not owning them.
